Why You Should Edit Your Writing When You're Hungover

Why You Should Edit Your Writing When You're Hungover

You may have heard the old quote “write drunk, edit sober,” but it might actually be better to edit when you’re still hungover.

Knocking back a few beers can be good for your creativity, but you’ll usually pay for it the next morning. While you might feel like you’re dying, Frank Kelly Rich, the Editor of Modern Drunkard Magazine, explains that hangovers might be pretty useful after all:

...hangovers are, however, perfectly suited for making hard and cruel decisions, so they’re fantastic for editing. When you’re in that sort of mood, it’s easy—even enjoyable—to bayonet those ‘little darlings’ writers are always trying to sneak into their work.

It’s not always easy to tear apart your own work, but hangovers put you in the perfect state of mind for it. So the next time your head is pounding and you’re feeling a little nauseous, give your writing a once over. It’ll almost be like having a fresh pair of eyes to give you notes.

No, You Haven't Time Traveled To The Future. This 480GB SSD Really Is Just $120.

ADATA’s Premiere line of SSDs isn’t nearly as fast or as well-known as Samsung’s 850 series, but any SSD will be a huge upgrade over a spinning hard drive, and this 480GB model is down to an absurdly low $120 on Newegg, complete with a three year warranty.

Personally, I keep my 30,000+ file photo library on an external hard drive (and also backed up to the cloud, fear not), but lately I’ve been frustrated by how loud and slow it can be, so I just ordered this SSD to replace it (with the help of an external enclosure, of course). Make a Hidden Belt Screwdriver MacGyver Would Be Proud of

There are a lot of great tools out there for your inner MacGyver, but this DIY belt screwdriver doesn’t take up any pocket space and can hide in plain sight.

http://ift.tt/1HOkVd8...

In this video, youtuber Shake the Future shows how to make any belt a secret tool belt MacGyver would wear himself. First, remove the old prong (the part that goes through the holes) from your belt. Then take a small screwdriver and remove the handle. Use some tools to bend the screwdriver into a hook shape similar to your old belt prong (cutting off excess if need be), and then attach it your belt the same way. It’s totally functional for keeping your pants where they need to be, and it’s a fun, sneaky way to always carry a useful tool. Until you go to fix something, no one will even know it’s there.

How To Run Backwards-Compatible Xbox 360 Games On Xbox One

Xbox One consoles are now backwards compatible with some Xbox 360 games. How do you play supported Xbox 360 games on an Xbox One? What happens with disc-based games? We’ve got a short video tutorial for you.

Microsoft’s console supports around 100 360 games right now, with more to come.

Weirdly, the Xbox One store doesn’t currently let you buy any of the backwards-compatible games. You can buy them digitally from an Xbox 360 or onXbox.com. Or, of course, you can get them on disc.

If you have save files for those games, upload them from your Xbox 360 by saving them to the cloud. Your Xbox One will grab them automatically.

Upload 4K Videos to YouTube from iOS By Going Through iMovie

Upload 4K Videos to YouTube from iOS By Going Through iMovie

If you try to upload a 4K movie directly from Photos in iOS, it automatically drops down the quality to standard definition. To get around this, you just need to use iMovie instead.

For whatever reason, the native iOS YouTube uploader will allow you to upload 720p and 1080p videos to YouTube without a problem, but when you try to upload a 4k video, it only gives you the “standard definition” option. Gawker’s own Shep McAllister pointed out to me that the best workaround for this is to just use iMovie to upload the video. After you record a video, just load it up in iMovie, select the upload to YouTube option, and you’re all set. It’s a silly workaround, but it does the trick. You can always just share the video to your computer and upload from there, but this is a nice way to do it straight from iOS.
